Launched in March 2014, Packages for Preemies is an initiative started by Parents of Preemies Association to assist families with the early arrival of their little one and their hospital stay. Packages include items to help parents better handle the stress of having a little one in one of Ottawa’s NICUs or Special Care Nursery (SCN).
What’s in a Presents for Preemies package?
Items in the packages are largely provided by donations by community members and local businesses, so we cannot guarantee that every bag will have the same contents. Parents of Preemies Association does its best to provide items that will be of use to every family.

Items include:
- Locally hand crafted hats;
- Gently used preemie clothing;
- Stuffed animal for the baby;
- Toiletries for parents such as lotions, hand sanitizer;
- Picture book to read to baby;
- Local resources and business coupons.
Thank You

How can I get one or get one for someone I know?
In order for Parents of Preemies to ensure that packages are appropriately supplied, please fill in the request form below, or email the appropriate information to support@popottawa.org
Packages are delivered directly to the baby’s bedside in the hospital by one of our volunteers.
Pay-It-Forward
An integral part of this program is that Parents of Preemies asks recipients of a Packages for Preemies package to pay-it-forward and share anything unused or no longer in use with another family. Paying-it-forward is a huge part of the association’s philosophy.
